AT STUD... Dulcinea's Steel Spike

Spike will be 4 yrs old on 11-19-2023.  He will produce a variety of "standard" colors, and also Blue, Blue with Brindle Markings, Gray, Gray Brindle and Blue Fawn (please see the colors in his pedigree ~ below).  Spike weighs about 27 lbs.

As of 6-19-23, Spike has been bred 9 times.

Spike is DNA'd with the American Kennel Club as V912077.  

GENETIC MARKERS:  Spike is negative (or clear) and OFA'd for 4 of the 5 areas that currently are recommended to be tested for in French Bulldogs:

~ Degenerative Myelopathy

~ Hyperuricosuria

~ Juvenile Hereditary Cataracts

~ Cystinuria

He is a Carrier (1 marker) for Canine Multifocal Retinopathy (CMR1).  My Veterinarian told me many many years ago that, "in 40 years of being a Vet, I've never even seen a dog with CMR1" ...  so I don't think it is a concern.

Please note these are "genetic markers".  Having the marker does not necessarily mean the dog will have the medical problem.  NOT having the marker does not mean he/she WON'T.

But I think it is in the best interests of any breed to try to breed away from genetic markers, and not just ignore them.

We do not do any breedings ourselves.

I can bring my Stud Dog to your Veterinarian, if within a reasonable distance.  In that event, the $500 Stud Fee must be in cash at the time of breeding.

Semen can be shipped chilled via UPS or FedEx. The Stud Fee is to be paid in advance of shipment. Shipping and Vet charges are also the responsibilty of the bitch owner. Breeding or shipment will be performed by my Vetrinarian:

If you are anticipating a breeding, you should be prepared for the event. Once a girl goes into heat, it could be only a matter of a few days until she is ready to breed. And you need to "have your ducks in a row", so to speak.

If there is no resultant pregnancy, you will be given a second attempt. Please note you are also responsible for paying the shipping and Veterinary costs for any second attempt.

Please know that we will NOT breed to any bitches who are not AKC registered.

This is not personal.  It is a matter of compliance with the Code of Ethics of the French Bull Dog Club of America, and keeping the breed pure.

If you want to breed to Spike, you will need to have your registration papers in order with the American Kennel Club and provide a picture of your bitch.
